Thierry Henry was left bemused after seeing Alexis Sanchez miss a seemingly open goal against Newcastle on Sunday.
With the game goalless in the 57th minute, Sanchez was played through by a good pass from Romelu Lukaku.
Sanchez’s first touch took him around goalkeeper Martin Dubravka and it looked like he would finish into the empty net.
However, Sanchez delayed his shot, allowing Florian Lejeune to get back and block.
Asked why Sanchez did not shoot first time, Henry said on Sky Sports: “I don’t know. It’s a great pass from Lukaku. Go around the ball and shoot…but he didn’t and he allowed Lejeune to make the recovery. He has a look and I don’t know why he doesn’t shoot before he did.”
