Suspect arrested after man shot in St. Petersburg

A St. Petersburg man was killed Wednesday after his friend shot him during an argument, police said.

Randal “Randy” Wright, 58, was shot once in the chest about 4:15 p.m. and later died from his injuries at St. Petersburg General Hospital. He was in his home at 7046 40th Ave. N, when St. Petersburg police say he got in an argument with Johnny Alan Moore, 55, who was living with him temporarily.

Police believe Moore shot Wright and then drove off in a 1981 motor home.

Next, Tampa police spotted Moore driving near the intersection of U.S. Highway 301 and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. about 7 p.m. and stopped him.

He was arrested and interviewed by detectives with the St. Petersburg Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit.
